Infrastructure Expansions in Connecticut:
New Compressor Station in Brookfield, CT: While not an Enbridge expansion, the fossil fuel company TC Energy has proposed the construction of a new compressor station in Brookfield, CT, which is already the site of other compressor stations. These stations switch gas between the TC Energy and Enbridge pipelines, and release ozone and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) into the community in the process. Both ozone and VOCs have dangerous health effects. Furthermore, this facility is located only 1900 feet from the town’s only middle school. Take action now to oppose this expansion: email and call Governor Ned Lamont.
A New Metering and Regulation Station in Coventry, CT: A stand-alone projects along the Enbridge pipeline was filed with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commissions in 2024 under blanket authorization certificate from 1987. Blanket authority can receive automatic approval if no protests are filed. This project is a new Metering and Regulation Station in Coventry, CT and could serve to increase the pipeline system capacity, a stated goal of Project Maple. However, this project was not filed under the name “Project Maple,” leading to concerns regarding impermissible pipeline segmentation. The project received approval in 2024, and is nearing completion.
